More pictures of purse

Here are some more pictures. I'll have more tomorrow. I haven't been this proud of a FO in a while.

Another view of the bag before the handles were added.

I'm trying to show stitch detail without burying the lens in the fabric.

The fabric's not sewn in yet.

This is the bag with the handles sewn in, but before the liner was added. It's sideways, because my genius self forgot to rotate it before I went to upload. Sorry!

I crocheted a purse

Took a while, but I did it! I've just finished the Fat-Bottomed Purse from Stitch 'N Bitch Crochet. It turned out really well. I got agitated with myself, though, because I ran out of yarn and had to buy a new ball to finish four rows. Guess I'll check gauge next time. I'm posting pictures over several posts, because they're huge and take FOREVER to upload. One of the disadvantages of having an 8 megapixel camera.

It's almost done in this picture. This is where I ran out of yarn. I had four rows left on the other handle flap.

This in the liner fabric I'm using. It's called the 4-Point Star of Africa.

Here's another view. I was a bit worried, because on the website I ordered it from, the red looked orange. It's actually even a darker red than it appears here.

This is what the liner looked like in the bag (before I sewed it in). The handles look black, but they're actually dark brown.

I will post more pictures this evening.

Freakin' USPS!!!!

OK, so I just received my Knit Picks Catalog in the mail. Normally, it's in pretty good shape when I get it. No torn, missing, or mangled pages. Not today. I just went out to check my mail after work, and what do I see in my mailbox? My catalog - looking like someone had hacked away at it with a pair of scissors or a paper cutter! My husband says it was done with a box cutter! What on earth?!?! And the idiot mailman DELIVERED IT THAT WAY! Why...WHY...would you stick something that looks like this:

to somebody's mailbox?!? What kind of ridiculousness is that?!?!?

Terrible Twos

Fabulous. Just great. You know, I love my daughter more than anything, but this whole "terrible twos" thing is really, really getting on my nerves. And the best part? She's only 18 months old!!! I mean, honestly, of all the things she could have (and did) start early, did she have to pick that?!? Stubborn, whiny, stubborn, loud, stubborn, willful...did I mention stubborn?

And look at this face:

I should have known she was going to be trouble.

And, you know, we're going to have hell when she starts dating.

Why do I enjoy this so much?

Time goes so fast!

You know, I think the only thing worse than being the stepparent of a kid just about to end his last year in intermediate school, is being the parent of that kid. And my stepdaughter is just two years behind him. I don't envy my husband or my children's mom one bit. They're growing up so fast! It makes you realize just how quickly time goes by. I'm dreading the day my daughter starts high school. I'm not even looking forward to the day she starts kindergarten!

It doesn't help that my 10-year high school reunion is next month. Where does the time go?

I'm DONE!

I've finally finished the kitchen set for my sister in law. They turned out so great! I will post picture before I give them to her. Now I get to go shopping for the yarn to make my brother's messenger bag. I'm using the pattern from Knitty's Summer 05 issue. I think I'll make one for myself, too. I just have to decide what colors I want to use.

My daughter, the painter....

Chloe is so silly! I went to a friend's house after work today, leaving my 17-month-old home with my husband. He decided to paint some lattice work for our patio, and let her come outside with him. While he was painting, Chloe decided she wanted to help. However, she apparently didn't want to use a brush. She stuck her hand in the paint can when my husband wasn't looking. You can guess the result.

She was COVERED! It was in her hair, her ears, under her chin... she could've been a smurf! She didn't like it much, either. Fortunately, it rubbed off in the bath (latex paint).

I was on a picture kick, today. Chloe takes the best pics. I'm not sure what she was thinking, here, though.

That was a lucky shot.
